Keeping Up With Master P
In some ways, it's a good thing the Charlotte Hornets cut Master P from the team. The rap mogul, who came within days of being on the NBA team's opening day roster, has plenty of irons in the creative fire, between his No Limit record label and his burgeoning acting career.
A rundown of Master P's current activities:
Foolish: April 2 sees the release of this comedy, starring P and Eddie Griffin, of Malcolm and Eddie. The pair play brothers, one a stand-up comedian, one a bill collector, both trying to get their lives back on track. Marla Gibbs, Andrew Dice Clay, and Mike Tyson make appearances.
Lock Down: This prison drama will mark Master P's third foray into directing. Shooting on the project begins in late April, telling the tale of three friends wrongly sent to prison. "I want the statement of this film to be that prison is not a place where anyone wants to be," P says in a statement.
Malcolm and Eddie: Master P recently made a guest appearance on the show, which stars his Foolish cohort Eddie Griffin. The episode will air on UPN March 2.
MTV: P has just signed a deal to executive produce and star in a half-hour dramedy for the network. P will play Calliope, a boot camp officer brought in to deal with screwed up teens the government has given up on.
No Tomorrow: P's No Limit Filmworks is producing this still-in-development actioner, starring Master P, along with Pam Grier and Gary Busey.
Takedown: This film, the true story of the tracking and apprehension of computer hacker Kevin Mitnick, wrapped last October. Master P appears alongside Skeet Ulrich and Tom Berenger.
